What are the reasons for the failures of the Red Army at the initial stage of the Second World War?

The main reasons that led to the defeat of the Red Army at the beginning of the Second World War are as follows:

1) Failure to comply with the command, ZAPOVO directive sent by the General Staff on June 18 (only fragmentary mentions of this directive have survived)

2) Negligent execution of directive No. 1 sent to the troops on the night of June 21-22 (the original of this directive has not been preserved, there is only an incomplete duplication of it to the Pavlovs for the troops of the Western Military District)

3) The location of the armies is very unfortunate in practice, when the units that were supposed to cover the border were 200-500 kilometers from this very border.
