The sex structure of the population of Russia is dominated by women. This imbalance developed during the Great Patriotic War, when the country lost most of its male population. Since a significant part of the Russian population lives below the poverty line, people lead an unhealthy lifestyle, have poor working conditions, and do not have the opportunity to eat well and receive high-quality medical care. The female body tolerates stress more easily, therefore, there are fewer smokers, alcoholics and drug addiction among women. Women are more interested in and take care of their health. Working conditions for women are on average more favorable than for men. For example, professions of a miner, pilot, machinist, etc. are traditionally dangerous. For these reasons, there are more women in older ages than men.
