What are the reasons that affect the salinity of ocean water.

The salinity of ocean waters depends on the geographical latitude, climate, river flow, currents. The higher the volatility, the greater the salinity. The salinity is influenced by the amount of precipitation. In the tropics, with high evaporation and little precipitation, the salinity of ocean waters is high. Desalination of sea waters occurs near the mouths of large rivers. Cold currents decrease and warm currents increase salinity. Ice formation in polar latitudes leads to an increase in salinity, melting – a decrease.
