What are the similarities and differences between songs and annals?

In fact, there are not many differences between the historical song and the chronicle. Both the one and the other reflect the events that took place at one time or another, and the one and the other can be a work of art. But, unlike the song, the chronicle has a timing, for example, in the story of the bygone years of Khlebnikov’s list, this is very clearly traced: in 852 – the Russians sailed to Constantinople, in 862 – there was an attempt by the northern Slavs to get rid of the power of the overseas Varangians, etc. .. And the song has primarily the goal of glorifying an event or a person, ignoring the timing, that is, the song can recount the great feat of the Russians, tell how decisive they were on the way to Constantinople, what high waves were (focus on small details), but it will keep silent about when it was, who led this army and other details that the chronicle could not miss.
