What are the similarities and differences between the ancient Egyptian state and the Assyrian Empire?

These states are one of the first in the history of mankind. As in that and in the other there was an oriental despotism, a slave-owning system. There was a developed written language and a high, for that time, culture. And here and there, they built gigantic structures. There are pyramids in Egypt, ziggurats in Assyria. Religion in both states was pagan.

Differences, however, are also not small. Ancient Egypt arose earlier and lasted longer than Assyria. The main building material in Egypt was stone, sometimes very huge boulders. The Assyrians used brick. Military subjects strongly prevailed in art, while in Egypt they were religious. Religions, despite the general similarities, still differed. Ancient Egyptian deities are depicted either in the form of animals or in the form of half-humans, half-animals. In the Assyrian concept of higher powers, this is expressed to a much lesser extent. For Egypt, the flood of the main river of the state, the Nile, was a blessing. In Assyria, the floods were unpredictable and destructive. The territory of Assyria was larger than that of Ancient Egypt.
