What are the similarities between ionic and covalent chemical bonds?

| Each atom always strives to completely fill its outer electron layer with electrons. When electrons go into general use and their displacement does not occur, such a bond is called non-polar covalent.
There is also a polar covalent bond – electrons are displaced towards a more electronegative atom. It usually forms between two nonmetal atoms.
An ionic bond is a highly polarized polar covalent bond. Here the displacement is very strong, the electrons move almost completely towards the more electronegative atom. Such a bond is formed between the metal atoms or the ammonium ion (NH4) and the non-metal.
From this we can conclude: the similarity of ionic and covalent polar bonds is that electrons move towards a more electronegative atom.
