What are the similarities between photosynthesis and chemosynthesis?

Photosynthesis and chemosynthesis form the basis of our existence on Earth. These processes, which are essentially a series of chemical reactions, help harness energy, which is critical to sustaining nearly every life form on this planet.

Although chemosynthesis and photosynthesis receive energy from different sources, both of these processes produce glucose (sugar), which serves as food for both plants and animals. In addition, inorganic substances are used in both of these processes for energy and food.
