What are the structural features of lichens?

Lichens are a symbiotic complex of fungus and algae. The vegetative body (thallus, thallus) of lichens consists of fungal hyphae, in most of them upper and lower cortical layers are formed, between which there is a layer of algae. Under this is a core of loosely arranged filaments of fungal hyphae.
Depending on the appearance of the thallus, they are divided into scale (thin crust), leafy (flake-like) and bushy lichens.
