What areas (zones) can be distinguished by examining a young root?

If you look at a section of a young root under a microscope, you can see the following areas:

1) root cap – consists of dead cells, providing protection;

2) division zone – here cells are constantly dividing, forming cells of other zones;

3) growth zone – in it the cells lengthen, ensuring growth;

4) the absorption zone – its cells have outgrowths – root hairs that absorb solutions of mineral substances from the soil;

5) conduction zone – consists of a conductive tissue, providing the transport of substances.
