What benefit did the Americans pursue in proposing the Versailles-Washington system?

The Versailles-Washington policy of regulating the post-war order met the interests of the most influential states. The most extensive benefits were received by the leading powers: the USA, Great Britain, France, Japan. These countries determined the further development of the world. In order not to repeat the war again, it was necessary to create an international union for the preservation of peace. That was the League of Nations. But the losing states and the USSR were not invited to the negotiations. The peaceful situation only gave rise to revanchist aspirations in the defeated countries.
