What can you learn from tree rings?

Growth rings can be observed on the cut of trees. This is the so-called wood gain, which occurs as a result of different cambium activity at different times of the year. In spring, its activity is greater than in the cold season, therefore, rings that differ in width from each other will be noticeable on the tree cut. This phenomenon allows you to determine the age of the tree, as well as reproduce the climatic conditions of its growth.

However, such a phenomenon as tree rings is also characteristic of some animals. For example, tree rings can be found on fish scales, shells of molluscs, claws, on the bones of fish and reptiles, on the bones and teeth of mammals.
