What causes atmospheric pressure?

Atmospheric pressure is generated by gravity. The upper air layers press on the underlying ones. The air layer adjacent to the ground is most compressed and, according to Pascal’s law, transfers the pressure produced on it in all directions. This pressure is called atmospheric.
