What cells are characteristic of the ectoderm contained in the body of the hydra in the greatest quantity?

The outer cover of the freshwater hydra is presented in the form of an ectoderm. This layer contains several types of cells. Most of them are epithelial-muscular. These cells are able to change their shape due to the muscle fibers lying at the base, due to which the hydra is able to move in space, change shape and posture. Other cells of the ectoderm are closely associated with these cells, but in smaller numbers – nerve cells. They signal the appearance of a stimulus and the hydra contracts, stretches or bends. Also, the outer layer contains stinging and intermediate cells.
