What changes took place in revolutionary populism in the 1880s?

In addition, the Narodniks failed to implement the idea of ​​rapprochement between the intelligentsia and the common people. Their propaganda did not lead to a large-scale popular riot or a major peasant uprising. The Narodnaya Volya members did not have a close connection with the poorest stratum of society. Many populists, realizing their delusions and realizing the zero result of their propaganda, switched to other ideological directions – Marxism, peaceful liberalism. Some became convinced monarchists.
