What characterizes a population and makes it possible to compare different populations?

A population is a collection of individuals of the same species. Over the course of generations, these individuals reproduce themselves, occupy a certain territory, function, and develop in one or several communities of organisms.
There are certain characteristic features, traits of a population, which make it possible to determine its state and compare with other populations. These include:
– number and density;
– gender and age structure, i.e. the ratio of individuals by age and sex;
– type of growth;
– features, the nature of the distribution of individuals within the habitat.
