What chemical properties are characteristic of the oxide of the 2nd period element

What chemical properties are characteristic of the oxide of the 2nd period element, the main subgroup of the 1st group of the Periodic system?

In the second period, the main subgroup of group I is Li, therefore, we get lithium oxide (Li2O) – this is the main oxide. Chemical properties characteristic of the basic oxide:

1) Reacts with water, forming alkali:

Li2O + H2O → 2 LiOH (Li hydroxide);

2) with acids:

Li2O + 2 HCl → 2 LiCl + H2O;

3) lithium is displaced from oxide by some metals and non-metals:

Li2O + Mg → 2 Li + MgO (when heated)

2 Li2O + Si → 4 Li + SiO2

4) forms salts with acid-forming oxides:

Li2O + CO2 → Li2CO3
