What color is litmus colored in aqueous solutions of the following oxides Cs2O, SO2, SrO, CrO3, Cl2O.

1) Cs2O – cesium oxide reacts vigorously with water to form cesium hydroxide CsOH, therefore litmus in an alkaline medium will give a blue coloration.
2) SO2 – sulfur oxide dissolves in water with the formation of sulfurous acid H2SO3, respectively, the litmus will turn red.
3) SrO – strontium oxide forms with water amphoteric hydroxide Sr (OH) 2 – violet color of litmus.
4) CrO3 – chromium oxide forms chromic acid H2CrO4, so the litmus will have a red coloration.
5) Сl2O – chlorine oxide forms perchloric acid НСlO4, therefore litmus in an acidic medium will give a red coloration.
