What contribution to science did Ptolemy make?

Ptolemy took an interest in such sciences as astronomy, geography and physics. He created a catalog of the starry sky, which contained 48 constellations. Ptolemy described that the Earth is divided into belts, that there are concepts such as the length of the day and the length of the noon shadow, sunset and sunrise. He also described the length of the year to the nearest minute and described the phenomenon of an eclipse.
