What determines the location of machine-building enterprises.

1. Proximity to labor resources. It is advantageous to locate machine-building enterprises where there is a sufficiently qualified workforce, that is, Nizhny Novgorod in this sense is more profitable than Tuva.

2. The presence of a number of transport routes. The product must be somehow shipped to consumers, so it is good to have a railway nearby (there are exceptions – Bursa is in Turkey, cars are made there), highways, an airport and a sea or river port (Kaliningrad or Samara).

3. Proximity to the consumer of the product. For example, the production of agricultural machinery is best located in regions with developed agriculture (examples are Minsk, Rostov-on-Don, Altai Territory), the production of cars is where there is a large population in order to be easier to deliver from the consumer, the production of ships is closer to the sea, enterprises of the military-industrial complex – next to metallurgy enterprises and scientific centers (cities of the Middle Urals).
