What did Pharaoh do if he was pleased with the service of a nobleman?
The orders and desires of the pharaohs in Egypt were fulfilled immediately and unquestioningly. Pharaoh is the governor of God on earth and his power is absolute and unlimited. The disgrace of the kings of Egypt deprived even the most noble of all the benefits and riches. Among the nobility were advisers, treasurers, managers, and army commanders. For a good service to the nobles, lands, palaces, jewelry could be welcomed, and promoted in rank. The status of a nobleman and his position were inherited, and if the ruler was satisfied with the work, he could give a rich monetary reward or allowed him to have his own tomb. In Egypt, it was believed that the tomb is the home of a person after his death. Therefore, the officials performed their duties very effectively in the hope of gaining the right to build their own tomb.
