What did the centenary war bring to ordinary people in France?

The common people of France suffered the most during the Hundred Years War. Men were drafted into the army; during the hostilities, a large number of those called up were wounded, maimed or killed. The passing armies (both their own and others’) destroyed crops, took food from people, simply robbed, often burned houses and killed. The common people were in constant fear, there was no confidence in the future. French rulers could have raised already onerous taxes, further aggravating the plight of the people.
