What did the peasant community own in the Middle Ages?

The peasant community owned land, the allotments of which were distributed among all members of the community. When distributing allotments, they were guided by the number of people in the family. The ability to pay taxes during the redistribution of land allotments, which were carried out periodically, was also taken into account. Community members had territories that everyone used: forest, meadows, river. In this situation, there is a striped pattern, which makes it inconvenient to cultivate the land: its allotments could be far from each other.
