Phoenician merchants discovered many trade routes. In ancient times, Phenicia was a small state on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean. There were many forests and the area was hilly. Thus, the Phoenicians were mainly engaged in trade and shipbuilding. They were also great inventors, the Phoenicians invented: glass, paint, bricks, sails and even an alphabet.
