What did Themistocles and Demosthenes have in common? What mark did they leave in the history of Greece and in world history?

They are similar in that they understood the power of oratory, both directed their abilities to defend the fatherland (Athens). Both prepared themselves through study to be called public speakers. Demosthenes, with his eloquence, raised all of Greece against the Macedonian king Philip. Themistocles convinced the Athenians with his eloquence that the proceeds from the Lavrian silver mines, which had been distributed until then among the citizens, should be used to build two hundred new warships. His advice was carried out and in the future served as the main, main reason for the great naval victory over Xerxes and the subsequent strengthening of the Athenian state.
