What do crocodiles eat?

Crocodiles are, of course, carnivores. Each species has a slightly different diet, and the frequency of meals is age dependent. They have good eyesight, thanks to which they can hunt at night. Mostly they sit in ambush for a long time and hunt down their prey. At a young age, when they are just mastering the skill of hunting, they feed on fish and insects. As they grow older, their diet expands, birds, mammals, those who come to the reservoir to drink are added to it: antelopes, deer, zebras, buffaloes, small rodents, waterfowl and reptiles. The jaws of crocodiles cannot chew food, so they either immediately swallow their prey, or drag them to themselves and wait for it to become softer. They eat self-like and carrion very rarely, only in the hunger season. Part of the food is transformed into a fat cell, thanks to this crocodile it is not necessary to search for food every day or week. As much as possible, without food, a crocodile can survive for a year. The process of complete digestion of food takes a little less than a week; older individuals need less food.
