What do omnivores eat?

Animals can be divided into 3 large groups according to the type of food they prefer: carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores. Some predators and herbivores can sometimes “indulge” in extraneous food, but this is infrequent, unlike omnivores.

Omnivores can consume both plant and animal food. In this regard, they have a number of adaptations: their digestive system is not specialized for digesting only one type of food, the shape of the teeth is, rather, an intermediate character between the teeth of carnivores and herbivores. A typical example of an omnivore is humans.
