What do the Battle of Marathon, Battle of Salamis, and Battle of Thermopylae have in common?

What these battles have in common is that the opposing sides were Greeks and Persians. In all cases, the actions of the Persians were of an aggressive nature, and the Greeks defended their right to life, freedom and independence. With all the similarities, there are differences. The Battle of Thermopylae Pass was led by the Spartans and lost. The Persians were given the opportunity to enter the lands of the Hellenes. The Spartans did not take part in the Battle of Marathon, but the battle was won by the Greeks. As a result of the Salamis battle, the Persians were defeated and fled in panic.
