What do you see as the reason for the establishment of the Jacobin dictatorship?

The reasons for the coming of the Jacobins to power and the establishment of their dictatorship and terror was the uprising of the urban poor – the sansculottes, supported by the petty bourgeois. It was the sans-culottes (without culottes – the short pants of the aristocracy) that became the engine that led the radical Jacobins to the head of the Convention. The Girondins were overthrown on June 2, 1793. When power passed to Robespierre and his Jacobins, a committee of public safety was organized, which launched a mass terror. It was during this period that a new term appeared – “enemy of the people”.
