What do you think were the results of the great geographical discoveries? (Have they always been positive?)

The results of the great geographical discoveries were mostly positive. New territories were discovered with many types of previously known and new resources. This caused a surge in the development of trade. From many overpopulated countries of Europe, settlers moved to the development of new lands, and navigation developed rapidly. The discoveries helped the development of related sciences – geography, astronomy, natural sciences. There was also a negative aspect of the discoveries – over time, the unique indigenous cultures of the indigenous people of America were practically destroyed.
