What does bacteria eat?
And so, bacteria are predominantly single-celled microorganisms that surround us everywhere, but unfortunately it is impossible to see them without special equipment. By the type of nutrition, bacteria are divided into the following groups: saprotrophs and parasites – such bacteria feed on ready-made organic substances, but there is a huge difference between these concepts! Saprotrophic bacteria feed on dead organisms, and parasitic bacteria, being inside a living organism, feed on them. Also, according to the way bacteria feed, two more groups can be distinguished – these are autotrophs and heterotrophs. It is not surprising, but autotrophic bacteria themselves produce organic food for themselves from inorganic substances, in contrast to heterotrophic bacteria, which use ready-made organic substances in their food.
