What does cellular metabolism consist of?

Metabolism in the cell of autotrophs and heterotrophs is very different. Autotrophs themselves can produce the necessary substances for their lives. Therefore, they only absorb water, some gases and minerals. Heterotrophs have a much more complex metabolic process. They absorb ready-made substances, recycle them and release unnecessary residues back into the environment. Cells have special organelles for this. These can be digestive vacuoles or lysosomes that have special enzymes.
