What does the exchange of DNA sections give bacteria?

As you know, sexual reproduction gives many variations of the genotype, which is beneficial for the newly formed organism. As for bacteria, for them all the advantages of sexual reproduction are closed, since they reproduce by budding, which means they have the same stable set of genes. However, nature gave bacteria a generous gift and allowed them to exchange DNA fragments. So bacteria were able to diversify their genotype in order to better adapt to changing environmental conditions.
