In the 18th century, schools of different directions began to open: navigation, engineering and others. This made it possible to train qualified personnel of various specializations, which was important during the period of active foreign policy, the development of manufacturing production. The Academy of Sciences was opened. Under Elizabeth 1, the first higher educational institution in the country was created – Moscow University, which now bears the name of Lomonosov.
