What event does the Middle Ages begin with?

The Middle Ages began with the fall of the Western Roman Empire in AD 476. Then the barbarian leader Odoacer entered Rome and forced the last Western Roman emperor Romulus Augustus to abdicate his throne. The weakness of the Western Roman Empire was associated with the decay of the army, internal economic and civil problems and the emperors’ disregard for all this. The barbarians, on the contrary, strengthened, destroyed the Roman army, destroyed Rome, putting an end to Hellenistic culture and entering the Dark Ages.
