What events took place during the First World War in 1914?

Among the foreign policy events, one can name the entry into the war of Japan (August 1914) and Turkey (November). From the military, one can note the battles on the western front (the capture of Liege in Belgium, the battle of the Marne), in the Balkans (the siege of Belgrade by the Austrians) and on the eastern front from Kaunas (in those years Kovno) to Chernivtsi – the successful offensive Battle of Galicia and the unsuccessful East Prussian operation. Both in August-September 1914, and then the Warsaw-Ivangorod and Lodz operations. They were defensive and ended with a small territorial loss – the cities of Czestochowa and Kalisz remained with the Germans.
