The night went down in history as a bloody tragedy. In the summer of August 24, 1572, a massacre of Protestants took place in the French capital. The murders took place on the eve of St. Bartholomew’s day. The atrocities were committed by Catholics who cracked down on French Protestants. About two thousand people died in Paris.
