What evidence is there for an evolutionary relationship between animals and fungi?

Mushrooms are quite different from the animal and plant kingdoms. They have a different body structure, lead an attached lifestyle, like plants, but unlike plants, they are heterotrophs. There are still general similarities between mushrooms and animals. This is the way of eating. Both mushrooms and animals are heterotrophs. Also, there are similarities in that they have membrane organelles in their cell structures. The main such organelle is the nucleus. Therefore, both fungi and animals belong to the domain of eukaryotic organisms.
