What experiments can be used to determine the content of oxygen and nitrogen in the air?

1. Volumetric method: a predetermined amount of air is passed through the weighed absorber, respectively, oxygen is absorbed by nitrogen oxide in an alkaline medium, and the remaining volume of gas is nitrogen.

2. Weighting method: the exact weight of the absorber (phosphorus or copper) is determined, followed by the passage of air, the increase in the absorber mass indicates the amount of oxygen. The rest of the nitrogen is bound by another scavenger (magnesium, calcium).
