What fabric is the thickening of the wood associated with?

The stem of a plant consists of four layers: bark (skin, cork, bast), cambium, wood and pith. The structure of each layer corresponds to the function to be performed.

The layer that ensures the growth of the stem in thickness is the cambium. It is formed by cells of the educational tissue or lateral meristem, which are constantly dividing and forming new cells of the bark and wood. The division stops only in winter. Therefore, in trees in the temperate zone, annual rings are formed.
