What functions should any cell of a living organism perform?

There are many different types of biological cells, including many cells that specialize in performing certain functions, for example, neurons are nerve cells whose function is to transmit tiny electrical impulses around the nervous system of an animal.
Although specific cell types have specific functions in tissues / organisms, there are some functions that all cells must perform in order to survive. All cells must carry out the transport of molecules, carry out chemical reactions (i.e. metabolism), including energy conversion, and multiply.
