What groups was Roman society divided into? Describe each of them.

Roman society was divided into two main groups – patricians and plebeians.
Patricians were persons who made up the ruling class and nobility. All state institutions were accessible only to patricians, and they were forbidden to marry the lower classes.
The Plebeians are the working population of Ancient Rome. Initially, they did not have the right to participate in political elections. Unlike patricians, plebeians could change their lives and marry members of another class.
