What happened after the great French Revolution?

For nearly a decade, chaos and an undeclared civil war reigned in France. Some forces came to power, then others. At the same time, the previous rulers, as well as their enemies, were regularly executed. As a result, the country simply took first place in the number of deaths and homicides. Also, the revolutionary authorities started to export the revolution around the world, as a result of which the French had to fight with the whole world. This happened with varying success until Napoleon came to power, creating the French Empire.
