What happens if the chalk is treated with hydrochloric acid?

Both chalk and marble have the same chemical formula CaCO3 (calcium carbonate). When calcium carbonate reacts with hydrochloric acid, the following chemical reaction occurs:
CaCO3 + 2 HCl = CaCl2 + H2O + CO2
Under the influence of hydrochloric acid, a reaction occurs, an acid salt, calcium chloride, water is formed and carbon dioxide is released.
