What happens to DNA in the interphase before the start of division?

In the life cycle of a cell, there are two phases:

– interphase – a period of relative rest of the cell, during which it accumulates nutrients and energy, grows and prepares for division;

– division phase – carried out by mitosis or meiosis.

The end of the interphase is DNA doubling. Each DNA molecule is broken down by an enzyme into two strands. According to the principle of complementarity, each strand completes the second of the free nucleotides. This is how hereditary information is copied before dividing.
