What happens when light acts on water molecules inside the chloroplast?

Photolysis of water (or its decay under the influence of light).

When light hits a chlorophyll molecule (this stage is called light, because its reactions occur only in the presence of light), its electrons are excited and leave the molecule. They then travel to the outer membrane of the thylakoid. Chlorophyll molecules that have lost electrons are restored by taking them away from the water in the thylakoids.

At the same time, energy is formed in the form of ATP (it participates in the synthesis of carbon in the dark phase) and oxygen is released, which enters the atmosphere.
