What has changed in the Crusades?

Initially, the Crusades were directed against Muslims. They were produced from Western Europe to Palestine. Their main goal was Jerusalem. The campaigns were carried out at the call of the Catholic Church. The reason was the infringement of the rights of Eastern Christians and the seizure of Christian shrines by Muslims. They were carried out by the adult population, which was led by representatives of the royal courts. Later, the Children’s Crusade took place. It ended with the death and sale of a significant number of participants into slavery. Over time, the crusades were sent to Europe. There was a campaign against the Slavs and the Northern Crusades. Even a campaign against the Horde was planned. The campaigns were different, but the ambitions of the Catholic Church remained the same.
