What has changed in the management of the Roman Empire since the coming to power of Octavian Augustus? How did Augustus manage to find a common language with different strata of Roman citizens?

After his victory over rivals, Octavian Augustus concentrated all power in his hands. Despite this, he left all existing Roman institutions of power unchanged. Thus, it seemed that everything remained the same. Augustus himself was called princeps (the first among equals).

For ordinary people, Octavian arranged shows, solved food supply problems, and so on, which earned himself fame among the common people.

The senators, however, were pleased that Octavian had left all the powers and privileges to the senate.
