What has China’s self-isolation policy contributed to?

This policy was aimed at preserving state sovereignty. In modern times, European countries carried out a global expansion of the entire known world. Most of the other states and peoples came under the influence of the Europeans and were turned into their colonies. Thus, the Chinese sought to protect themselves from the penetration of European culture and, of course, expansion.
