What horny formations develop from the epidermis of mammalian skin?

In mammals, the thickening of the stratum corneum of the epidermis forms not only corns, but also horny formations: horns, hair, hooves, claws, nails, scales. The phalanges of the fingers of many mammals are protected by derivatives of the epidermis – horny claws. The result of the increasing complexity of the structure of the claws is the hooves. The hooves are a thick horny formation covering the terminal phalanx. In some mammals, horny scales develop on the limbs, on the tail, which are similar to the scales of reptiles (for example, an armadillo).
