What human tissues are involved in wound healing?

Epidermal wound healing describes the mechanism by which the skin heals itself after injury. Coagulation may not occur if there is no violation of the vasculature; however, an immune response occurs because the wound site is susceptible to infection.
Keratinocytes surrounding the wound site and epidermal cells found in dermal appendages (eg, hair follicles) are capable of re-epithelializing the wound site. Epidermal wounds often heal quickly and have fewer potential problems than deeper wounds.
